Hello everybody,
I've been following this forum for a while but couldn't find the answer to a burning question of mine: How hard is it to find a job as a psychiatric nurse practitioner in San Francisco or the bay area?
I've been reading a lot about the job market being saturated for RNs/NPs in these areas. As far as searching online, not much luck, very few job openings for APRNs. So, that's what led me here. Maybe somebody could shed some light on how things really are for us NPs out there in SF/Bay Area?
Any replies are greatly appreciated. Thank you guys!

I don't know about psych, but yes... the Bay Area is very saturated with nurses of all flavors. New grad RNs still hunting 2&3 years later. I've heard that even UCSF MEPN students struggle to find work, and even clinical rotations while in school. If you are willing to Central Valley it, it might be slightly better. HTH

Not familiar with the Psych NP market but while the area is definitely saturated, qualifications and experience tend to go a long way around here. If you come with experience that perfectly suits the role that is being filled, you have a greater chance of getting hired. I guess that's the same anywhere but I'm just saying that because I know a quite a bit of NP's (in the acute care fields) who have been hired from out of state and brought years of experience with them.
