Do you know roughly, how many questions are on the test?
How long do you have to take the test?
Can you use calculator? I'm sure we probably can't but I want to make sure. Does it include dosage calculations?
Does anyone know if the test varies by school or is it just 1 big standarized test like an ACT?
What is the minimum passing score or does it vary by state?
Ok, I think that's it.
Any other information would be helpful also, please share!!!
I just took it this afternoon. There's something like 170 questions. You cannot use a calculator. Each section is timed. At my school, they use the computerized version of the exam. When you finsih one section, you go right into the next, and the computer shows you how much time you have remaining on each part and what question you are on and how many are left.
I ran out of time on the math section because I am slow when I don't have a calculator. I still did really well though.
I took the TEAs at CSU-East Bay. They did not allow a calculator. All you need is your license and some water, and the staff provided everything else. Make sure you use the bathroom before starting the test.
The first "reading" section was easy. The second section "math" was the most challenging for me because I ran out of time during the last five questions. You can't go back to that section once they finish timing a section, so I just quickly bubbled in anything for the last five answers. My mistake was that I took too much time to set up and work through some long multi-step problems that I should've skipped and returned to later. In retrospect, I should've guessed or backsolved more. Sometimes a quicker answer was found by looking at the anwers and guestimating.
The "Science" section was the next most challenging as I had no clue what they were even asking on some of the physics questions and just guessed. The last "Grammar" section felt fairly easy to me. However, my Grammar scores were my weakest area when my scores came back.
Still, I did very well on the TEAs, and I'm not the strongest tester. My recommendation is that you buy the guidebook from ATI and that you work through the problems. This will help quell any anxiety, as the test questions are exactly like the book, with the actual test being a bit easier (like the math questions weren't as multi step on the actual test as they were in the guidebook...and on some of them it was easier to guess than work through the problem...like the geometry...you just needed to know what therom you would use to solve the problem and you weren't actually being asked to solve it...stuff like this).
Also, make sure that if you are slower at math like I am, to skip those long multi step questions till the end and go back and do them if you have time (at least pick a answer even if it's a guess as you want all your bubbles filled).
I spent about three weeks of my summer working through the ATI guide book as well as a Kaplans book I had picked up (waste of time--just stick to the ATI book). I took the test in August, and I think I did well because I wasn't stressing over school at the same time. However, a study buddy of mine walked in and took the test around midterms with no preparation and did better than me.
Also, in my neck of the woods, you can retake the test as many times as you want, and many do to improve their grade.
Good Luck!

Hello NikNik I was wondering if you have taken the Teas test yet? If you have can you tell me about the reading portion, what type of reading is it? Do they ask for main idea, what is the mood of the authur? What other type of reading is there on the Teas for some reason i am having a hard time with the reading portion in the ati test book? Your reply would be great. Thanks!
I think it's standardized because it is ATI's test. No matter what school you take it at, your results will be posted on ATI's website. It always has four sections with a specific amount of time for each. I can't remember exactly, something like, Science 50 min., Math 30 min., Reading 40 min., and Grammer 40 min. No calculators allowed - but you won't need one. There are no dosage calculations or any type of nursing questions. There are some metric conversions and some Human Body Science questions but nothing that you have to have had a nursing class to know.

Yes, I've taken the test. It actually wasn't hard at all. I thought the reading would be the worst part because I easily drift away when reading something that is not interesting to me; but I did better on that than any other section. Yes, it does ask for the main idea, I don't think it asked about the mood. The ATI book is a lot harder than the actual test. Some question were like:
1. looking at a map, following a road, and determing what direction you would go if you were trying to go from one city to another - very easy
2. look at 4 different items like, for instance, a stove, and see what each one offer; gas, electric, self-cleaning, etc. and the question would ask, which stove offers this, this, and this - again, very easy (hope that made sense)
3. others were like, what is the main idea or what is the author trying to convey. It might be something like public awareness, cures/treatments, etc. - easy
Again, that ATI book "over-prepares" - of course its better to be "over" than "under" prepared. I personally wouldn't recommend the book but I would recommend the website:

The actual test is easier than the website also!!
Good luck!

Thank You, Thank You, NIKNIK! I am going to take the test on the 18th, hope I do well. Take Care!!
In addition to the other posters comments, I would recommend that you review basic physical and chemical science. I am talking high school stuff like F=ma and d=m/v and similar concepts. I was surprised by the high school level science content...very basic but concepts that are easy to forget.
Good Luck!

I took the TEAS before I had any pre-req's done and scored an 88%. After my first ANP course I took it again and this time I scored a 91%. The hardest part for me was the science portion (not my strong area). I did better on the science the 2nd time because ANP covered some chemical science.
