Several TEAS test questions.....please help.

Do you know roughly, how many questions are on the test?

How long do you have to take the test?

Can you use calculator? I'm sure we probably can't but I want to make sure. :o Does it include dosage calculations?

Does anyone know if the test varies by school or is it just 1 big standarized test like an ACT?

What is the minimum passing score or does it vary by state?

Ok, I think that's it.

Any other information would be helpful also, please share!!!

i don't know the answers to all your questions, but someone might answer or someone on the pre-nursing student forum will know. the teas is a standardized test that is written and distributed by ati. here is a link to their website where you can get information about what is on the test and a link to their online store where you can purchase a study guide:

http://www.atitesting.com/productinfo/teas.aspx - the home page of the organization that writes and administrates this test. the test covers four general areas: math, reading, english and science.

math covers whole numbers, metric conversion, fractions, decimals, algebraic equations, percentages, and ratio/proportion

reading covers paragraph comprehension, passage comprehension, and inferences/conclusions

english covers knowledge of punctuation, grammar, sentence structure, contextual words and spelling

science covers science reasoning, science knowledge, biology, chemistry, anatomy and physiology, basic physical principles and general science

Thanks a bunch.

It's been awhile since I took it but there were 4 sections ( reading, english, science, and math). Each section had different amounts of questions and each section had a different length. No, there were no dosage calculations. The math part was basically algebra, geometry, etc. The science part also had basically only a few A+P questions ( honestly I think I recall I had 2). I don't recall having calculators..I do recall them handing out lots of scratch paper. As far as I remember I only needed my I.D. and a couple of pencils.

As for the minimum passing score I do believe each and every school sets a standard for what they accept as "passing" etc. I do believe the test is the same at each school- just the scoring as to what they expect is different.

Do you know roughly, how many questions are on the test?

I think there are about 200 questions on the various topics...the trial test that is on the ATI website, is not as long as the actual test.

How long do you have to take the test?

I had 3 hours, and each section is timed.

Can you use calculator? I'm sure we probably can't but I want to make sure. :o Does it include dosage calculations?

The TEAS test does not include dosage calculations, because it's designed on a high-school, 11th grade level.

Your school will determine if they will allow a calculator or not...call THEM not, ATI. I have seen on this board that some schools will allow one and others won't. However, if they allow a 5-function calculator, be sure you get one that has a square root, percentage, and square capability.

Does anyone know if the test varies by school or is it just 1 big standarized test like an ACT?

It is one big standardized test according to subject matter...you won't have the same questions as someone else, but they will cover the same topics to the same level of difficulty..that is what makes it the TEAS...how the school uses it, is up to the school and not ATI...all ATI does is provide the test and scores it.

What is the minimum passing score or does it vary by state?

ATI does not set the passing score...your school does.

Ok, I think that's it.

My advice is to contact the school to ask them questions regarding the calculator and scoring requirements.

Thanks Again For All Of Your Information. It Was Very Helpful. "smile"

I have to take the TEAS test at the end of april. Im very nervous about it. Just wondering how everyone else did?

I am scheduled to take the test April 26th. I am so nervous.

I just took the test about a month ago and from everything I have read and heard about the scoring is that it is different from school to school. At my school you have to have a minimum of: Math 60% Science 60% English 70% Reading 80%. Also alot of schools use classes and GPA's as additional requirements and points toward entrance. I don't know what grade your school is looking for, but I got a 79% and my advisor said I should be ok...so we shall see. There were 175 questions on the test and I thought that science was the hardest part of the test because there were questions from all different types of science. Hope you guys do well-Good luck!!

Do you know roughly, how many questions are on the test? There are a different # of questions for each section: math, science, reading, english.

How long do you have to take the test? Two hours I think, different amount of time for each section

Can you use calculator? I'm sure we probably can't but I want to make sure. :o Does it include dosage calculations? No calculator, no dosge calulations, basic math, algebra, geometery, word problems ect

Does anyone know if the test varies by school or is it just 1 big standarized test like an ACT? Standardized

What is the minimum passing score or does it vary by state? Depends on what your school requires. Mine required you passed in the 75th percentile

Ok, I think that's it.

The program I am trying to get into requires a 68%. I have been studying, and all the pratice tests I have taken, just like you said, the science portion was the hardest. Hopefully I will do good, the test is on Saturday!

Good luck to those of you who are taking the TEAS soon.

After talking with some classmates, it seemed that people had the most trouble with the math section this year. Lots of people ran out of time. I was able to finish and did fine but I also didn't solve each problem completely. In some of the questions, I started to solve and then realized that three of the four answers didn't make much sense. So you can save a bit of time that way. If you fully solve everything (we weren't allowed to have calculators) you may not have enough time.

I took it in February and was a bit relieved.. I got a 91.2 which was 99th percentile for both my program and national. I didn't find it to be too difficult.. but the stress involved was certainly not fun!
