good day!..i was scheduled to sit for nclex in hk last sept29. unfortunately, super typhoon milenyo decided to make a stopover in metro manila on the day of my flight (sept28). as a result, all international flights were cancelled and re-booking was impossible. god, i was so worried! ...i was so worried that my fees maybe forfeited because of no show, and i have to start all over again...where in the world will i get another us$350 + bon application fees????....asa i got back from naia, i informed nclex candicate service and was told that they are aware of the situation since they were bombarded with calls from the affected test takers. they have to wait for the decision of the nclex operations in usa and was told to call back monday, oct2...what has given me relief from the worry was the thought that i was not the only one affected since there maybe a hundred of affected manila test takers. here's hoping that ncsbn will have heart and reconsider giving us another sked, especially those whose att will expire soon. to those of you affected, please share your thoughts!

when i took my exam last week, sept. 22,..... 98 to 99 percent of the nclex test takers were filipinos. i was scheduled at 9am so i arrived there early and happened to chat with the other examinees.
for sure, your nclex will be re-scheduled.
be not afraid. your not alone.

NCSBN reply: No Exam Rescheduling...i was so disappointed hearing this NCSBN decision..so unfair!...there should have been an investigation..news about the super typhoon were in the web..at least, to know that we are not just making an excuse out of it!...My hard-earned money was forfeited!.. ...to all affected test takers, what should we do?

hi!...i sent NCSBN an email appealing for a consideration...i believe it's unfair for them to forfeit my fees ...anyway, Super Typhoon Xangsane (locally named Milenyo) was in the web news and im not making any excuse out of it...
im requesting all those affected testtakers to email and appeal our predicament to NCSBN...US$350 is a lot of money...i hope they wont take us for granted...
i want to know if anybody knows similar situation happened before from any of the testing center sites (earthquake, hurricane, etc)...pls share them...
my travel agent can make arrangements with the flight and accomm...just waiting for the new date of travel...

I took the NCLEX last May, when the super typhoon hit Hong Kong. Signal Number 3 was up.
I was lucky coz I flew in 1 day before the exam, and was booked in a hotel in Kowloon.
took the MTR to the exam site.
we were only 7 examinees during that day...the reason being a lot of examinees flew to Macau coz it's cheaper. problem was, the Star Ferry was shut down coz of the typhoon. but the MTR was not.
the typhoon hit full force 30 minutes after I left the exam site.
(prayers work! I was praying so hard for the typhoon not to hit while I was taking the exam, coz a single power fluctuation could wipe out my exam.)
this is why I advise flying in 1 day before the NCLEX, and fly to Hong Kong proper, not Macau--especially in Typhoon Season. (would the savings matter if you don't get to take the NCLEX?) the MTR was working even with all the "Signal Number 3 is hoisted" LED signs in the MTR stations.
from what I know, the examinees who were not able to take the exam also forfeited their money.
Hi, I know this is a late update...anyway, I received an email from NCSBN informing me that Calif BON reconsidered and reopened my ATT till the date of its expiry, Dec13, 2006. Thank God!...But this time, i have to take it in Saipan since HK sked is full this end of Dec06. Scouted travel agencies which can give me a reasonable quote for a SAIPAN NCLEX pkg (single) with VEP assistance. I preferred a "complete" pkg since I dont want to worry and have escalating phone bills bec of VEP followups with CNMI Immig. I would rather spend my time preparing for the exam. After getting quotations ranging from US$515 (without VEP) to US$800 (with VEP), I settled with US$615 with VEP assistance, 5D/4N. It looks reasonable to me.
may i sing here:
:melody: "god will make a way,
where there seems to be no way,
he works in ways we can not see,
he will make a way for me.
he will be my guide
hold me closely to his side
with love and strength for each new day
he will make a way, he will make a way.:melody:
by a roadway in the wilderness
he'll lead me
and rivers in the desert will i see
heaven and earth will fade
but his word will still remain
he will do something new today."

No Sheikha. I am not an EX-SEMINARIAN. I am a glee club member. But I do have a PRIESTLY CALLING before.

Change has a purpose - and I believe it is for your own good
I took my NCLEX in Saipan also and I stayed in Pan Pacific Hotel for 3D/2N. It was a good experience. When we arrive there's a transportation, to the the hotel, waiting for us. I did not worry about transportation in going to the testing site too because it's included in the package.
Goodluck! And tell us about it when you come home....
