Morning everyone,
I am a new member on this nursing informatics page. I've been in the HIT industry for quite awhile now and currently hold a informatics position at a hospital in the los angeles/san gabriel valley area. I have experience in Meditech, Epic, Cerner, and a number of other smaller EHR platforms. I build, test, train, troubleshoot, and support. Hope I can be of help to you all and I hope I can learn from you as well.

Are you an RN as well? Sorry, it's just not obvious from your post and I know a lot of people in informatics who are not nurses.

I would love some advise on how to best set myself up for success in this career field. I will be earning my ADN this December and will begin my BSN in January. I plan to do my Masters & DNP in Nursing Informatics. I have been an LPN for 20 years in every setting you could think of, I was also a Computer Engineering major for a short time prior to deciding to further my nursing career. I have always loved technology and have had an affinity for computers from a very young age. Most of my computer knowledge is self taught but I am a very fast learner. I'm looking for advise on how I should prepare for a successful career while I work on my degree. Thanks in advance for any advice you can provide.

I am curious if a second degree in an IT program would be more beneficial. I am a 10 year masters degree nurse looking to get into IT. Considering maybe a BS in programming.
