Seneca College RPN

Hi everyone,

I've been accepted to practical nursing at Seneca College and I'm super excited!

I'm finding trouble getting information about the program in terms of the facilities, teachers, etc. I've heard some negative comments but I would really appreciate anyone who has been in the RPN program there to give some input :)

It's really far for me too, but I'm still going because I don't want to chance applying next year and not getting in anywhere.

Have you heard from any other colleges?

yeah, I'm going to Centennial instead since it's much closer to where I live. It's going to be worth it in the end

Thanks :-), well I've heard from some people that Seneca has the worst lab facility, but I'm not too sure. Oh, how far do you live from Seneca? It'll take me 2 hours to get to the campus from where I live.

yeah i've been hearing the same thing :(. I live in Mississauga so it's gonna be around 2 hours for me as well. I'm really hoping to transfer second semester but I have no idea if that's even possible.

Oh, trust me, the 4 hours you'll spend each day commuting is going to kill you. I'm attending University of Toronto right now for Political Science and it takes me around 3 hours each day to go back and forth from school. But honestly, I think George Brown might be better for you since it is located in DT Toronto if I'm not mistaken. Have you applied to other schools?

I don't know but I heard Centennial has the best RPN program in Ontario, but I could be wrong. :-o

I would have to say there's no such thing as a "best" program in Ontario. It's all a matter of personal preference and I think many people would probably say the same about their own colleges :)

However I would say there are definitely some programs that rank a little higher up on the reputation totem pole ;)

I attended Conestoga for PN (and loved it, can't say enough good things!) but I took a Health Assessment course post-graduation at Centennial and must say it was the most I've EVER learned in one class, it was fantastic!

Centennial also has a pretty good lab which is SO important. As a nursing student at any college you spend so much time practicing skills and a high quality lab and simulation environment makes a world of difference. I couldn't imagine attending a school that didn't see the value in investing in and providing a solid learning atmosphere for its students.
