Last sunday on my floor I heard that a pt was selling puppies from her room. When asked by the team leader to stop they were ignored. The team leader did nothing more and the saga continued.
Plus staff from other floors where coming to the room to see the puppies and a couple were bought by staff members!!!!
I have to say I was shocked and felt that this was very inappropriate and would have called the house supervisor to deal with the situation.

That does seem inappropriate. Does your hospital have policies regarding pets in the hospital? A patient once asked me if her family could bring her dog in for a visit. When I checked with my manager, she said they had to bring in paperwork showing the dog had all its shots and there were other forms to fill out. It was a pretty cumbersome process to get permission.

Gross. Yuck, yuck, yuck.
3 puppies I wasn't working but I was told they were small and cute. After the pt was discharged one of the staff from another floor came looking for the pt to return the puppy, it wasn't in the best of health. Of course she couldnt so I dont know what happened to puppy but I do know staff members were in trouble

I keep thinking of all the pee and poo those puppies created. Yuck it must have been a total mess!

If they had kittens I probably would have gotten one.
When you need to get rid of a litter and are laid up in a hospital, the logical thing is to set up shop in your hospital room with a little sign, a basket and the adorable little pups. Just think of all the traffic you'd get!
