I have this assignment due next week and I could really use your help! The first question is: What heritage/cultural group do you identify with? Either I am reading way too much into this or I just don't get it but I am unclear as to what this is asking. If this is referring to my heritage of where my ancestors are from then I have that answer but I don't think I "identify" with them, thats just where they are from. I guess I am asking you guys for some examples of different heritage/cultural groups so I can see what I am linked to. I really appreciate your help! I have looked on the internet and can't seem to get any good answers so I knew you guys were the ones to ask!

I think they are looking for you to talk about what country your relatives are from. When they refer to culture it would encompas the practices of the people. For instance, much of the family on my father's side of the family are German and Polish and when ever we went to family gatherings did you know it. Polka music, pierogies, sauerkraut. My inlaws are Chinese. These a lot of culture things that they practice that I just don't understand all the time. With Chinese New Year coming up, they give lucky money (never in even number amounts) and do not use any knives or cutting implements on New Years Day.

I know ABOUT my heritage, but don't really know it enough to identify with any of it. The only heritage I know that I can identify with is my faith, and the strong faith of my maternal relatives before me. That's my legacy. That's what I hold strong to, and know the most about. Ethnic wise, I know I'm a multiracial human being. That's about it.

But I would make it a strong point in the conclusion of the paper, how you feel though.
As an immigrant myself I can see how people loose the connection after a while especially over the generations. It's already starting here in my own family. My oldest son who was born in the US took German in High School.
He thought it was so uncool that he was part German He always problaimed that he was "American" like his dad.....
What better way to rebell his mother than flunk German :bluecry1: However he likes my German Christmas tradition and I have a little hope for the future :wink2:
