I have also posted the following message to the Staff Development board. However, to increase my chances of finding a mentor I have chosen to post to the general nursing discussion as well. Thanks!!!
Hello to all of the staff development nurses! I am an RN currently working on my BSN. I am seeking a mentor for my professional socialization project. The project that I am going to be working on is creating a formal, structured orientation program for nurses new to our facility. I am also planning to create an orientation handbook and orientation check off form. I am currently working in an LTAC (long term acute care) hospital. Unfortunately we do not have an educator or staff development person on staff and no one here has the required experience to be my mentor. I would be willing to work with my mentor via email or phone unless they happen to be close enough that we could meet a few times. The requirements for the mentor are that they have a minimum of a BSN and 3 to 5 years of experience in the area related to the project. I chose to ask on the staff development board because I believe this board has nurses who most closely match the experience requirement. If you, or anyone you know, might be willing to help me with this project I would greatly appreciate it. You can PM me or email me through allnurses. Thank you very much for your time and consideration!

You are welcome to PM me. I have MSN with board certification in Staff Development but have never worked in LTC. If I can help let me know.
Hello classicdame!
I tried to reply to you via PM but I could not get it to work. I wanted to say thank you for offering to mentor me through my BSN project. However, at this time I have found a mentor. I truly appreciate your offer. Have a great day!
