Seeking feedback on CNA course at OSU-OKC

Published

Has anyone taken the CNA course offered at OSU-OKC? They offer a 12 day course and I'd like some feedback. I'm changing careers and thought about pursuing my CNA certification before getting into nursing school to gain experience. Is this a good idea?

I asked this same question in the Oklahoma forum a while back. Here is a link to that thread. There was one reply about OSU-OKC but it was for Tulsa, not Oklahoma City. I just found this thread, it may be of some help.

Here is the website: OSU Certified Nurse Aide Training Program

Hope this is helpful!

Thanks so much. Have you already gotten into the program or are you currently taking classes in Oklahoma city? Also, is the thread you sent me the only one linked to OSU OKC? How did you find that?

I've got a baby too and am changing careers. I'm currently a work from home/stay at home mom and I'm finishing up my prereqs now. How did you work everything out for you?

I live in Tulsa and will be taking CNA classes through a school here starting March 2nd. I was considering taking the class through OSU a while back.

All Nurses has forums by state. If you go to the top of this page and click the "Regions" tab, click "United States" in the drop down box, you will find the Oklahoma forum on that page. There's lots of information there, most of the threads are either about things in Tulsa or OKC. It isn't very busy though.

My mom will be keeping my girls while I take evening classes. I don't have anyone to keep them during the day. As for when I'm working, my 5 year old is in kindergarten all day but I have a 19 month old also. I think some of the hospitals up here offer daycare but that will depend on the cost. Option 2 would be to have my sister keep my baby but she lives half an hour out of town and I would have to drop off and pick up. I'm not sure how that will work yet.

There was an ad in yesterdays Tulsa World about OSU's program. It says they are accepting applications between Feb. 16th to the 24th, with employment beginning March 9th. That's up here though. If I were you, I'd call the number on the OSU website page I linked you to and see if they are taking applications down there too. You would need to do it now though because I think today is the 16th. Tulsa World Ad
