And not for a new grad internship. I'm looking at moving from south Alabama to the greater Seattle, WA area. How does one secure a position prior to moving? Are there agencies that will help place you as permanent, FT staff vs a temporary travel assignment?
I'm an ADN RN with 6.5 years of experience on peds/adult med/surg. I'm cross trained to pp/well-baby. I have PALS. I'm taking ACLS in October. I'm currently studying for peds certification. I'll be enrolling in the spring for an RN-BSN program. (I thought it best to enroll after moving.)

Gosh, you are courageous. Please make sure you have a financial cushion before making the move. The cost of living in the PNW is much higher than you may have anticipated. With your experience, the only roadblock may be BSN requirements. There are some great health care systems in that part of the country, but I haven't heard of any recruitment benefits (relocation allowance, bonuses, etc) for positions other than management.
Travel agencies have non-compete clauses that prohibit employers from hiring anyone from the agency for a period of time... usually 12 months or more. The hospital would basically have to 'buy out' your contract from the agency in order to hire you.
Good luck to you. Seattle is a beautiful city.
I'm still looking at all our options. Moving is one. Traveling is another. And there's always just staying put.
I have to weigh the risks/benefits of each option.
Staying in the Deep South means stagnant wages and non-union facilities. It's very much an anti-worker climate.
Traveling could be problematic if my husband were to have relapse of any health issues.
Moving puts us near his brother and sister again. They are very helpful with both my kids and my husband.
