Seasonal Nursing Florida

Hello everyone,

I'm interested in doing a seasonal nursing assignment in the sunshine state next winter and would like to hear some of your experiences of the facilities you did your time at and just some solid advice. I'm considering going to either the Tampa area (looking at Baycare in particular) or Fort Myers area(looking at Lee Health). I have about two years experience as an RN but worked as an LPN/RPN for a couple of years. Thanks!

could you give me some info too? looking into tampa and st petersburg and would love insight

Nothing wrong with working seasonal for a hospital system and there are some benefits, but you may make more net pay working for an agency. Get offers from both before committing. Hospitals will tax all your compensation, including housing.

I personally did better financially working directly for a health system, but obviously Ned brings up a good point that you have to have offers from both to truly compare. Typically, my health system pays internal travelers all the same rate whether you are in a specialty or not, whereas an agency is likely going to pay more for a specialty.

linkinBSN, I'll send you a PM.
