searching for work in Ontario

Published

I am an RPN from Toronto I graduated 5 years ago and have only worked for a camp for 2 months the staff were horrible and accommodation was difficult.

I am getting depressed applying to online jobs because I've graduated so long ago ,spent thousands of dollars in education and still unemployed with little experience. I am doing my RN education currently and am wondering if anyone has current information on places that hire without much experience, or any advice at all. I'm beginning to think I will never find work. Why has it become so difficult to find work when there are tons of job postings everyday?

Have you considered relocating?Have you applied to everything that is out there? You may have better luck outside of the city. Toronto is saturated with nurses looking for work.

Hamilton is only an hour away from Toronto and pretty much all my classmates have jobs and I graduated last December. I found a job within a month. I've heard Toronto is impossible...you will have to relocate, and I'm surprised that you have waited that long!

If it's been 5 years, you're looking at a refresher. Even if the CNO would not require you to take a refresher, many employers will because if you've worked only a few months in a 5 year period, your skills aren't current. At least you're in school.

Consider all of the surrounding areas. Many people have commuted 90 minutes for work.

I am in the same situation, same as my classmates. I graduated august 2013 and up until now I cannot find jobs here in Toronto. I have a friend who lives in hamilton and she was able to find a job a month after her graduation. I think we just need to relocate if we are really desperate for a job.
