My school district has their own cyber program and we have a decent number of students that are in the cyber program. The last 2 years, I sent letters to the parents of the cyber students requesting to bring the students in for screenings to be done, but hardly ever get any responses. Anyone have any ideas that have worked for getting their cyber students screened? How many times do you contact parents regarding this??

I have never heard of a cyber student.

We don't have cyber students. I'm not aware of any local schools that do either, other than K12 online program.

Who provides training for Hearing/Vision certification in your area/region? When I last attended, the instructing nurse was open to answer all kinds of questions regarding legalities around screenings and will answer questions via email as well. I would start there.

We have students for walk in services only that have to comply with physical/immunization laws, we can exclude for noncompliance in regards to that. But, as far as screenings (hearing and vision, I'm assuming), I'm not sure. Could you make a phone call and set up an appointment time?

I have never heard of cyber students either, but since this seems to be your school's program, maybe you can meet with whoever is the administrator or head of the program and make it a policy of the program that all students must report to the health office by a certain date for screenings to be eligible to participate.

OK I feel better. I was starting to think the OldDude was the only one who hadn't heard of cyber students. 🤓

I'm suprised most of you have not heard of cyber students. I am in PA and it is becoming more popular in my area. It's basically an online school through your district. There are some cyber schools that are state or privately run, but most districts in my area have their own cyber program as well.

Thank you. I was thinking of doing something like that as well.

I've heard of a cuber student, but since this student doesn't physically step into the school building, how does health stuff apply to them. I mean, they aren't going to virtually come to your office. And if they aren't physically in school, does immunization compliance apply? And therefore screening apply? Or can they provide proof of both from their doctor's office?

We have online students; however, I do not do screenings on them, nor do  I keep immunization records or health folders for them. They are not on premises which means they are not my responsibility.
