Founded in 1892, Strayer started as Strayer Business College. In 1998, it was awarded university status by the District of Columbia Education Licensure Commission and became Strayer University.
Strayer University’s nursing degree programs focus on delivering care in a variety of ways. The programs are flexible to make it easier to work and continue to pursue a nursing degree online. The other focus is that dreams are not destroyed by the lack of being able to afford school. Strayer's nursing programs are affordable, keeping dreams within reach. All nursing classes and curriculum are taught by nurses, to keep the reality in sync with the classroom. Adult learners are a main focus at Strayer University and they understand the unique strengths and requirements of the adult learner. Students with previous experience can test out of courses as well as apply previous credits towards a degree, saving time and money.
Online learning is the new age way of learning. Strayer has spent thousands of hours perfecting the way they teach our online classes to best support our students. Students are not alone in the online learning world. There are resources right at his or her fingertips, the same resources that are available to campus learners.
Online in Real-Time
The classes are online at set times during the evenings and on weekends. Students can engage in the live audio from professors, engage with a "virtual blackboard," and have the option to interact with fellow classmates or professors via live text messaging. Therefore, it is almost like classroom learning without the physical classroom.
Students will be able to participate online 24/7. Therefore, if the student works the night shift and is up late on his or her nights off, Strayer is still there, online, anytime, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Students can browse through all recorded lectures, video presentations, instructional materials, and maintain the ability to chat with fellow classmates.
iCampus is our proprietary learning portal and is the place to call home for all online courses and needs. The iCampus is where students will find everything from registering for courses, attending a class, submitting assignments, socially interact with fellow classmates, and much more.
The thousands of hours we spoke of earlier to maintain the online classroom does not stop there. Strayer University is always updating and improving the iCampus part of the website, building off the feedback from the students.
