In 1904, Mount Sinai Phillips School of Nursing (PSON), a private, not-for-profit institution, was founded with a distinct focus on exceptional nursing education at the associate's and baccalaureate levels. The clinical rotations are held at top-ranked centers throughout New York City. The two nursing programs offered are in hybrid formats: Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) and RN to BSN programs.
The Mount Sinai Health System is New York City's largest integrated delivery system encompassing seven hospital campuses, a leading medical school, and a vast network of ambulatory practices throughout the greater New York region.
Accelerated BSN Program (ABSN)
If you hold a baccalaureate degree in another field, the Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) degree is designed for you. Students can become a nurse in 15-months. This program is a hybrid program as well. Afterwards, the graduate is eligible to take the NCLEX-RN licensure examination and is well-prepared to pursue masters-level education in nursing.
Students in the ABSN program must complete a minimum of 48 nursing credits and finish the program within a maximum of six semesters, calculated at 150% of the standard completion time.
ABSN Admission Requirements (not all inclusive)
- Completed portfolio
- Bachelor's degree in a field other than nursing from a nationally or regionally accredited institution
- Official transcript from each institution attended
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25
- Minimum Prerequisite GPA of 3.0
- Official high school transcript or copy of GED score
- Two letters of recommendation
- Statement of purpose
- Current resume
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Heath Care Providers Certification: Only BLS certification from the American Heart Association is accepted
RN-BSN Program
The RN to BSN program is designed for nurses who already hold an RN license through an associate's or diploma program and want to pursue a BSN. The program is offered in a hybrid format with classes held on Wednesdays, allowing nurses to continue working.
The Upward Mobility Program provides an exciting opportunity for Associate Degree and Diploma Nurses to earn their BSN while working. Joining the Mount Sinai Health System, students not only get their tuition covered (with a portion taxable) but also commit to working for Mount Sinai for two years after graduation.
Admissions Requirements (not all inclusive)
- Completed portfolio
- Unrestricted and unencumbered current license and current registration to practice as a registered nurse in New York State
- New associate degree graduates will be admitted conditionally and must submit documentation of RN licensure on or before the completion of the first semester of attendance in order to remain in the program
- Official transcript from each institution attended
- Associate of Science in Nursing, Associate of Applied Science in Nursing, or Diploma in Nursing
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75
- C+ or higher in all nursing courses
- Minimum prerequisite GPA 3.0 for science and math courses
- Minimum GPA OF 2.50 for all other prerequisites
- Official high school transcript or copy of GED score
- Two letters of recommendation
- Statement of purpose
- Current resume
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Heath Care Providers Certification: Only BLS certification from the American Heart Association is accepted
- Documentation of current professional liability (malpractice) insurance

The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) accredited the ADN program.
The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) accredited the BSN program.
