New York University (NYU) was founded in 1831 and is a private, non-profit university.
In 1932, NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing (NYUCN) was founded and became the second largest private university College of Nursing in the United States. NYUCN was named for Rose-Marie "Rory" Mangeri Meyers.
Rory Meyers College of Nursing offers a wealth of opportunity for students at its main campus and portal campuses, Abu Dhabi and Shanghai, and ten international academic centers in Africa, Asia, Europe, and South America.
Academic Programs
Undergraduate
Accelerated 15-month Bachelor of Science in Nursing — BSN
Those who hold a bachelor's degree in another field are eligible to apply for the program. The program is 15 months in length over four consecutive semesters, beginning in September or January. It is a full time requirement. At the end of the program, graduates are eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX) to obtain RN licensure in his or her state of practice.
Traditional 4-year BSN
NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing offers a traditional BSN program that lasts 4 years. The program prepares students to take the NCLEX to obtain state RN licensure.
Once pre-nursing courses are complete, students can start their nursing courses in their junior.
RN to BS
Nurses who hold an associate's degree in nursing can apply to the RN-BS program.
Applicants who have completed the prerequisite courses more than ten years ago are eligible for admission. However, NYU Meyers does not accept science courses (including Nutrition) that are more than ten years old.
Graduate
Master of Science in Nursing
The graduate level master's program courses are designed for nurses who are seeking clinical practice advanced roles. There are options in the nursing administration, education, and informatics fields. This program will prepare the nurse with a foundation for doctoral study.

Eligibility Requirements (not all inclusive)
- BS in nursing or BS/BA in non-nursing field together with associate's degree in nursing
- Minimum GPA 3.0
- NY State nursing license
- Prior to entering the specialty courses, at least one year full-time clinical experience as an RN
- Basic statistics course and basic research course at the undergraduate level
Additional MSN Program-Specific Requirements
Adult-Gerontology Acute Care
At least one year of clinical nursing experience with adults and older adults is required. Critical care experience preferred.
Pediatrics
Prior to entering the pediatrics program, at least one year full-time clinical experience as a registered nurse in pediatrics is required. Also, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification is required prior to entering the first clinical pediatric clinical course.
Psychiatric-Mental Health
One year of full-time clinical experience as a registered nurse may be substituted by other equivalent experience in the psychiatric field, psychology, or other closely related social science field.
Nursing Education
At least three years of full-time clinical experience as a registered nurse is required.
BS/MS
The dual-degree BS/MS program prepares students to obtain a bachelor's degree in nursing and continue to advance to an advanced level masters degree.

The dual degree BS/MS program is open only to NYU Meyers students who are currently enrolled in the BS program. Students can apply in their third term in a traditional 4-year program or 15-month accelerated students into the dual degree BS/MS.
Eligibility Criteria (not all inclusive)
- Currently matriculated student in BS Program
- Minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA
- Essay
- Students must meet with their academic advisor as well as the master's program coordinator to obtain approval for the change in their program status
Students who have been granted admission into the master's program must have a minimum 3.5 GPA at the time of completion of the BS in nursing degree, enroll in NYU nursing graduate courses within two years of graduation, pass the NCLEX exam, and obtain professional employment as a nurse before re-matriculating into NYU Meyers master's program
MS/MPH
The program is completed in three years of full-time study instead of four. Graduates are eligible to sit for national certification exams related to advanced practice role and population-focus.

The maximum time to complete the PhD at NYU Meyers is 7 years. Will it take me 7 years to complete the PhD program?
Full time students usually complete the program in four years and part time in six. Seven is the maximum completion time.
