Mercer University is a private research university with its main campus in Macon, Georgia. Founded in 1833 as Mercer Institute and gaining university status in 1837, the institution is the oldest private university in the state and enrolls more than 9,000 students in 12 colleges and schools. The multi-campus Mercer University Health Sciences Center incorporates programs offered by the Georgia Baptist College of Nursing, and the new College of Health Professions, opened in 2013.

Mercer University is a private research university with its main campus in Macon, Georgia. The multi-campus Mercer University Health Sciences Center incorporates programs offered by the Georgia Baptist College of Nursing, and the new College of Health Professions, opened in 2013. The Nursing College was founded in 1902 and the mission of the Nursing College was to 'heal the needy sick'. This mission has become the cornerstone of the Nursing School ever since it was founded.

Studying in the Nursing program offers students a rich learning environment, aiming to broaden nursing student's intellectual horizons and encourage innovative professional practices. The program emphasizes experiential learning and supports student success in leadership development, interdisciplinary clinical practice, and scholarship.

Mode of Learning

The BSN track includes online instruction, on-site clinical practice, and skills labs, with some blended learning classes. The RN-BSN program is fully online. The PhD in Nursing is also online, while the MSN programs are on campus in Atlanta.

Accreditation

The BSN, MSN, and DNP programs at Mercer University are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE)

The Georgia Baptist College of Nursing is fully accredited by the Georgia Board of Nursing.

NCLEX Pass Rates

The NCLEX-RN pass rate for 2023 Nursing graduates from Mercer's BSN program is 80%. This reflects the institution's commitment to maintaining high standards in nursing education, ensuring students are well-prepared and confident as they begin their nursing careers.

Acceptance/Admission Rates

The program's admissions process is less selective. A minimum TEAS composite score of 76% and a minimum 3.0 GPA are general requirements for consideration. However, case-by-case waivers may be granted, allowing applicants who do not meet the minimum requirements to be considered for admission if they demonstrate exceptional potential or possess unique qualifications aligned with the program's objectives.
