GateWay Community College in Phoenix, Arizona, was initially Maricopa Technical College in 1968, but it got its current name in 1987. This historic institution, which prides itself as Arizona's first technical college, is strategically situated within a district known as "Gateway" to reflect its community roots. Part of the Maricopa County Community College District, GateWay has continually expanded, adding significant facilities like the Automotive Center (1989), the Children's Learning Center and Central Plant (1998), and the Center for Health Careers Education (1999). At GateWay Community College School of Nursing, students are immersed in a comprehensive educational experience that combines clinical rotations, advanced simulation laboratories, interprofessional education collaborations, and community health initiatives. These components work synergistically to ensure that students learn the theoretical aspects of nursing and apply this knowledge in real-world settings. Through clinical rotations, students engage directly with patients in various healthcare environments, gaining invaluable practical skills. In simulation labs, state-of-the-art technology mimics real-life medical scenarios, allowing students to refine their clinical judgment and problem-solving abilities in a controlled environment. 

Mode of Learning 

All nursing programs at Gateway Community College are offered in person, combining classroom instruction with hands-on clinical practice to provide comprehensive training and practical experience in various nursing roles.

The associate in nursing program is offered at eight different Maricopa Community College campuses and takes six terms to complete totaling 12-18 credits per term.

The RN-BS program requires full-time students to complete 12 to 18 credits per semester over ten terms. Note the accreditation status below. 

The nursing assistant program and medical assisting certificate are fast-track certificates designed for those entering the healthcare field, both of which can be completed in two semesters or less. The operating room nursing program is also a fast-track certificate intended for current nurses seeking specialized training and can be completed in the same timeframe. 

NCLEX Pass Rate 

As of 2021, GateWay Community College achieved a notable NCLEX pass rate of 92.16% for its nursing program. This exceptional rate highlights the program's effectiveness in preparing students with the expertise and competencies required to succeed in the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX).
