Fayetteville State University was founded in 1867 by seven extraordinary black men with the mission to provide education for black children. Located in Fayetteville, North Carolina, it is a public historically black university and the second oldest state-supported school in North Carolina. The University was established in response to the dire need for education among African Americans immediately after the Civil War in 1865. Fayetteville State University School of Nursing was established in 1992 and has since produced a significant number of nursing professionals who have become leaders in the field, contributing greatly to the healthcare system in North Carolina and the nation.

NCLEX Pass Rates
Fayetteville State University's (FSU) current NCLEX pass rate is 90%. In the fall of 2018, graduates of the pre-licensure nursing program achieved a 100% pass rate on the NCLEX, and the pass rate has consistently ranged between 80 to 100% since then.
Unique Feature of the MSN Program
The School of Nursing at FSU is proud to be the first in the state to offer an MSN program focused on patient safety and quality. Graduates are prepared to lead safety and quality care initiatives with mastery of concepts in safety culture, regulations and compliance, legal issues, and system designs like LEAN and Six Sigma.
