Bucks County Community College (BCCC), a public two-year collegiate institution, was founded in 1964. BCCC's Department of Health Sciences offers an Associate Degree level for Nursing RN program and the LPN-RN Advanced Placement program.
Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) Program
At a full-time status, students can complete the program in two years or it can be completed on a part-time basis. Both lead to an Associate of Arts Degree and graduates are eligible to take The National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN). Those who pass the NCLEX-RN are then able to enter the workforce as beginning graduate nurses and to assume entry-level positions as Registered Nurses in acute care, long-term care, client homes, clinics, physicians' offices, or other agencies established to meet health care needs.
ADN Program Admission (not all inclusive)
- Work equal to a standard high school program with a minimum of 16 units (a unit is the equivalent of a year's worth of study)
- Official high school transcript on file in Admissions and must be enrolled in the College
- GED students must meet the same requirements
Admission Requirements - Conditional Acceptance Clinical Component of Nursing (not all inclusive)
- Currently enrolled in the College and have taken the three placement tests
- Met high school requirements
- Have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 at BCCC
- NLN-RN Pre RN entrance exam of 50th percentile or above (55th percentile preferred) OR ACT of 20 or above OR SAT of 900 or above (critical reading and math)
Clinical Component of the Nursing Program Requirements (not all inclusive)
- CPR certification (BCLS course)
- Health examination
- Immunizations record
- State Police criminal check and FBI check that shows the applicant is felony free for ten (10) years
- Free of Prohibitive Offenses which includes certain drug and substance abuse violations within their lifetime
- Must not have not been convicted of a driving under the influence of intoxicating liquors and/or drugs within five (5) years of participation in the program
- FBI fingerprint clearance
- Child Abuse Clearance that demonstrates child abuse free in lifetime
- Negative drug and alcohol screen
Licensed Practical Nurses to Registered Nurse (LPN-RN) Advanced Placement Application
LPN-RN applications are taken from October 20, 2017 - February 20, 2018. The challenge is done at the end of the Spring semester. Successful applicants begin Nurs201 in the Fall semester. Challenge notifications are sent out mid-March.
Applying to the Clinical Component in AD Nursing (not all inclusive)
- Meet high school requirements and request a 2035 major
- Requisite courses listed in order to be eligible to challenge
- Valid Pennsylvania Practical Nursing license
Additional Admission Criteria (not all inclusive)
- Proof of Pennsylvania licensure
- Because LPN's have completed the licensure exam, the SAT, ACT or NLN will not be required
- Transfer students are required to meet all criteria for acceptance as above
- LPN's may challenge out of NURS 101 and NURS 102 and enter into NURS 201 after completing all of the NURS 101 and NURS 102 co-requisite courses, NURS 120 Drug Calculations and NURS 220 Health Assessment

The Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing approved the Bucks Associate Degree Nursing Program.
Bucks County Community College (BCCC) is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.
The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing, (ACEN) accredited the Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) program at Bucks County Community College Department of Health Sciences.
