Admission to Brookhaven College School of Nursing starts with the completion of the admission packet including signed course substitutions.  A mathematical formula is then used to compute the applicants score.

Currently, Brookhaven College School of Nursing is ONLY accepting applications from students with a Step 1 score of 27 admission points and higher (see below for information on Step 1 and Step 2). Step 1 calculated score is the sum of student’s GPA+HESI A2 TM+ Critical Thinking Exam score+Course points.

After the admission deadline, all candidate scores for STEP 1 will be calculated.  The applicants with the top scores will be identified and then the STEP 2 process begins.  The student’s final scores will be determined by the combination scores of STEP 1 and STEP 2.

    Step 1:

    1. Minimum 2.75 GPA is accepted for four prerequisite courses in the nursing curriculum

The professional writing sample is evaluated based on composition, grammar, spelling, content, and legibility.

The interview score and professional writing sample scores will be added to the Step 1 score (GPA + HESI A2 points + critical thinking exam points + course points) for a FINAL admission score of (GPA + HESI A2 points + critical thinking exam points + course points + interview points +professional writing sample points) for a maximum admission score of 70 points.
