Wayne State University, located in Midtown Detroit, Michigan, offers BSN, MSN, DNP, and PhD degrees as well as graduate certificate programs.
Classes: On Campus
Focus: Nurse Practitioner
Attended NP program (Master's) but not recently. Program geared to working RN's as classroom sessions were mostly scheduled in the evenings. Classroom facilities, simulation lab, online access to resources, and libraries are topnotch. Nursing school is well connected to a large number of NP alumni practicing in the Metro Detroit area who serve as preceptors. Ongoing affiliation with major area hospital systems that offer a diverse and high quality clinical exposures. Various opportunities for scholarships and funding sources for graduate education at the time I was there. Surroundings are relatively safe for an urban setting with adequate parking for graduate students who commute.
Faculty have various expertise but some are more research focused with less numbers of faculty engaged in actual clinical practice. School of nursing staff and university staff as a whole can be disorganized and takes time to respond to inquiries.
A good value in Metro Detroit with respectable reputation in training for the health sciences.
