But I just spent 26.00 on school stuff yesterday and am wondering how much everybody is spending/what they're buying aside from uniforms and clinical instruments.

I have a giant messenger bag I got a couple months ago that holds all of the books I need for my current classes and each notebook I bought to go with each class and has extra room, somehow. And a hole puncher for handouts.

But I'm wondering if anybody has anything you wouldn't typically think of that you think we should get aside from the highliters and index cards..etc.

thx!

For clinical, I think it one of those clipboards that you can put papers, pens, etc inside and close the lid would come in handy.

congrats!! I used highlighters alot!! Black sharpie, red pen, index cards (b/c I am addicted to flash cards). Calculator. I liked pens with a cushion on the grip d/t all the writing you will do. It is so much fun to buy the school supplies! Gets you excited about what you are about to enbark upon!! Have fun. Kinda jealous. But so glad to be done. Love your name!!

Get the post it note brand index cards because then you can stack them together into groups or stick them on the walls etc.

I got the rings that you put your index cards on. Kinda handy I think.

I wish I could use a messenger bag for my books, I couldn't find a big enough bag with wheels so I had to get a carry-on suitcase...no lie!!:p And guess what?!? That still wasnt big enough so I have to carry a backpack too. We do get lockers which will help I guess. Instead of alot of notebooks I got a multi-subject with folders. I already have alot of stuff to carry and keep up with so thats one less thing I have to think about. Everything is there together. I also have those stickies that you use to hold ur book pages. Not sure of what they are called. Comes in handy for quick reference and you can write on them. Other than that just the norm, pens, highliters, flashcards and a daily planner which I keep in my purse so that I can have it all times.:wink2:

We only have 3 classes per mod, so I got lucky that I get to have a messenger bag. If things get bad I'll switch w/my daughter and give her the bag and take her backpack on wheels that she never even close to fills.

Thanks to y'all, I'm going shopping again after school on Wednesday to get a couple more things.

I really appreciate your advice..keep it comin :D

I doubt the messenger bag will work. I have always made fun of people who used the rolling bags, but guess who's going out first thing tomorrow to get one :clown: We only have the books from our first module at this point, and already they don't all fit in my messenger bag

I have those index card packs that come spiral bound and you can tear them out, but I plan to keep them together and I've just been adding my terms as we go.

I'm also going to get a whiteboard calendar so that I can see my month at a glance and regularly. Starting next week, I have about 4 exams per week and that doesn't include quizzes or other assignments we have to turn in, so I need to be able to constantly keep tabs on whats due, when. Otherwise I'm afraid I'll forget something or not be well enough prepared.

There is a huge tread about this in the general student nursing section.

The white board is an awesome idea!

The only reason I got a messenger bag is b/c the part-time students are merging w/our class on Monday, and a bunch of them have them and don't seem to have a problem. So I worked out a deal w/my oldest daughter b/c she really wanted my bag, and I told her I'd switch w/her if mine didn't work out. Her is on wheels.

Sounds like a plan!

We're starting w/pharm, psychology and a&p. So, I bought a 3 ring for each, and filled each w/subject dividers and notebook paper.

I plan on dividing up handouts and notes, and then whatever else we have for each class, and using my index cards for terms.

I'm glad somebody mentioned the post it stickies so I can stick those on pages in my books that I need to be reading or studying and write on each tab what I'm supposed to do w/that page.

I really need to get a planner or a little notebook or something too for assignments and so forth, I forgot to do that.
