School RN pay in Minnesota?

Hello,

Can anyone give me an idea of what the pay is like for school RN's in Minnesota? I'm working for a hospital in MN now, but would like to do school nursing in the future if the pay is okay. I'm in Rochester right now, but am open to moving to suburban cities like Hastings, etc.

Be prepared for a major pay cut. I am starting out after less than 1 year experience. If I had a 1.0 FTE, I'd make $42,000. You'd probably make more with some experience, but it won't be as much as hospital pay.

I am in the Minneapolis area.

That sounds ok to me because I figure I'd do camp nursing in the summer (I assume you get summers off?) and the COL is good in MN. The Indeed salary searches I did came up with similar figures. I asked about MN pay because I used to live in FL where school RNs started out at $19 an hour and I wouldn't work for that.

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, you get summers off. You can also choose to get paid over the summer, too. Supplementing over the summer is very common. Good luck with your job search! (: Also, try to apply for your public health nurse registration and licensed school nurse application soon. That way, you don't have to worry about it after landing a job.
