I was wondering if anyone could help me figure out a lit review topic. The paper is for a nursing research class and has to be about an intervention for a specific population (for example: oral hygiene in preventing VAP- only i can't do this topic b/c this was done last year). I am having a hard time deciding what topic to do. My interest is in CCU/ICU. Some ideas I had involved:
early ambulation in preventing DVT
assessing pain in nonverbal patients
another intervention for VAP
the use of local anesthetics in IV insertion
massage's effects on pain and anxiety
I was also thinking about effects of naps/sleep in night shift nurses which, even though it is not an intervention, i might be able to do if i ask my professor.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

I would go with the effects of naps or different sleep routines in night shift nurses. I have read some interesting articles over the years on this, and it's a subject that deserves way more attention than it's gotten. As someone who has worked years on each of the different shifts, I still hold that nights should get paid double what days makes, even if days had to take a cut. It is just so hard on your body and your life.

If not allowed to do the naps/night shift study, then I think that assessing pain in nonverbal patients sounds very interesting or massage effects on pain/anxiety. Good luck on your lit review. Right now I'm not in school, and thankful that I'm not having to write any papers!
