I am currently doing my nursing prerequisites and will be applying to nursing school next semester, but I was wondering if anyone ever joined any school organizations outside of nursing?
I have a deep love for literature but nowadays I don't read as much or learn anything outside my current classes. I was thinking of joining an english honors society in which there are weekly meetings and students talk about books and also write. I don't know if I should do it since I'm already involved in the honors program which requires for students to do nursing research once in the program. I absolutely love my current classes and nursing is my passion.
I study a lot and enjoy learning more and more about the nursing practice, but I also miss learning about literature and philosophy. Is it worth it? Has anyone done it?

I don't know that you'll really have the time for the reading that will be expected with such a program. It might sound nice, but the reality is that nursing reading will take up much of your reading time.
And while popular literature and or the classics might be very desirable, maybe participation in something more science oriented (like chemistry or bio) might be more helpful. You'd have peers who could help if you ran into trouble in those classes.
Just my thinking ...
