I am not, but I wish I could sit down with some of these girls and just give them some insight on dating! As funny as it sounds. A good majority don't have moms in the home, or have been able to see a stable relationship/marriage or just need somebody who is not a family member to tell them what they need to hear.

I've actually sat down with a few girls and told them what they should be looking for in a boyfriend ect and they listen! Currently helping one girl get out of an unhealthy/toxic relationship.

Ugh. My heart goes out to them!

I am - I am the yearbook adviser. And this year I got asked to co-lead our senior trip to Paris and Barcelona this winter.

I'm going to be the seniors best friend this year...or not :).

I am excited - it is a large group, though, and a lot of work. 60ish HS seniors. But free trip :).

Not technically, but with 3 of my own kids in my school, all in varied activities and clubs, I end up being at a ton of things by default. You know, I'm the mom with the "good" schedule so I can do that stuff! *wink wink*

Are you going as the nurse, or as a chaperone? How does that work if going as the nurse in terms of being out of the country? And what will your school do while you are out? Inquiring minds want to know...sounds fabulous!

I want to co-lead a trip to Paris and Barcelona! lol. Our English teacher did that through an agency, and for every 6 kids they signed up a staff could go for free.

I considered playing the "a trip is safer with a nurse around" route lol

I am a chaperone. My nursing license in not valid beyond my state and the country. My principal and head of school are aware of this as I made it very clear :).

And I'm hiring a sub to cover me for the three days I am traveling just before break (rest of travel is over a school break). I'm looking into agency/subs at the moment. I agreed to go if we can guarantee sub coverage for me ;).

We have this mentoring program in our school now and all staff was welcomed to get a child and as well nominate someone. I nominated this 8th grader who barely came from Mexico and was having a hard time adjusting to a new country, new language and new school. She came a bunch of times crying to me and I comforted her. I became her Mentor and so far she's doing better! She's teaching me some Spanish (Even though Spanish is my first language, I lost some of it due to English being my primary language after years of schooling) and I'm teaching her some English by just talking.

And I also nominated my Diabetic student, he's my mentor buddy and we are having a better relationship than of last year. We are good buddies and we talk about EVERYTHING. It also helped that I saved him from a girl having a first crush on him and would not leave him alone.

Have you asked to have something like this? It is EXTREMELY helpful, especially if you want to get closer to some of these kids who don't have someone in their life who they can talk about things to.

A lot of girls come to me for advice too, and I try to help as much as I can.

This is brilliant! Who did you talk to to start this? Or who runs this?

I always do the senior class trip and their big fundraiser for it. Usually, just a state over and they are part of the compact.
