I just had a teacher stop in to ask if I wanted anything while she was making her Starbucks run!

This is the same one who told me (months later) that she says a Rosary for me weekly after we had two kids with seizure-like activity seize....one after the other....I will say that since she did that, we've not had an occurrence.

I legit teared up!

What a sweet teacher!

My favorite teacher will consult me and thank me about kids. I have a few like that.

The rest are all, "So what have you done for me lately?"

It makes the really good ones shine.

I had one teacher walking by my office when I was finishing up a conversation with a parent on the phone. She paused and I thought she needed/wanted something. I finished my call and asked her.

She just smiled and told me, no she didn't need anything and didn't mean to eavesdrop, but that I was great with that parent on the phone. This teacher has kids and continued to tell me she would be so happy to have me as the school nurse for her kids. It really made me smile for the rest of the day.

I have emailed teachers asking them to make sure they send a note of some sort with their student so I know they had permission to come. Nothing really has changed. But I have one teacher who has always sent a note. And at least once a day the note will say something like "thank you for all you do" or "you're the best". She's kinda awesome, too.

Hell, I would want you as my kids' school nurse...and I was my kids' school nurse!!!

I am close with a lot of my teachers, mostly because they are convinced they are dying because they looked up something on google and they need to now discuss it all with me.

But two in particular come and check in on me from time to time to see how I am doing. It's been a rough fall for me and my family and having that extra support has meant so much to me.

I love it when a teacher thinks of me or compliments me on how I handle a situation. The school really is their domain and I generally feel like an outsider, so to get an "I can't believe how calmly you handled that" or a "thanks for taking care of my students, I know they were really needy today" always means a lot to me. Last year, a kindergarten teacher bought me cool bandaids for my office when she went on a Target run and I was so surprised!

Today at my lunch break there was a flood of little ones. two throwing up, one with a gushing nosebleed and 2 regulars trying to miss class. My secretary who gives me lunch immediately hopped in, got rid of the frequents, emailed one of the throwing up ones parents (preferred way of communication for that kid), helped get clothes for the nosebleed and other puker. And then kicked me out so I could have some time so I could inhale my food.

I think we all sometimes feel like the world outside of our office has no idea how hard we work everyday.

We had a staff meeting where we were all given a stack of post it notes and had 25 minutes to write a 1 sentence compliment and stick it onto to as many people as we wanted. When the timer started I was immediately surrounded by most of my staff, which both shocked and caused me to tear up. We all left covered in post its and it was an awesome way to start the day.
