It's been 5 years since I finished my LVN program and I cannot help but be embarrassed and ashamed when people ask me if I'm a nurse yet! I have no words for them! It's been 5 years and I could've been working as an LVN already. It breaks my heart even more knowing that my mom financially supported me through this process and is still paying things off and I have yet to finish what I started for myself, for her and those I love. It's been too long and the longer I try to put this off - I get more mad at myself for not just trying! I have this BIG, BIG FEAR OF FAILURE! I just don't want to let anyone down. But I know I'm letting people down by not doing anything about it.

So, I'm making a change! My goal is to pass and become an LVN! I need your help though!

I am so overwhelmed with where to begin. I've been out of school for a long time and I have forgotten A LOT of things. I wish I could take a refresher course but I won't be able to do so because I still have to work and I have to take care of my baby girl (15 months). I need something that I can do on my own. There are so many review books out there and I've ready so many posts - so now that its 2011 - are there any suggestions as to what book I should focus on? Should I start all over? Should I just start doing questions? Any suggestions would be appreciated. I've heard of the Hurst Review from a close family friend. Has anyone ever taken that?

I'm so stuck in this rut and I want to get out of it so bad. :( Has anyone been in this position? Any feedback would be so helpful.

Thanks for listening.

Trust me we are not alone! Thanks for stepping up to talk about this. I finish LPN school in 2008. I have had alot of family problems and health issues that affected me that I couldn't take my Nclex. Now it's 2011 in November I will be taking a review class. Don't give up we are not alone, and Don't Give Up!!!!

I thought I was the only one but i guess not. I've been out of school for 9 years and decided I need to take my exam. Alot has happened since then. Does anyone know which state will allow you to take your exam after being out of school for so long. Thanks in advance for your help.

All of you in this situation, HANG IN THERE!!!!! I graduated in December of 2004 and took the NCLEX in February of 2005....the first time!!!! Unfortunately I did not pass. I also have a HUGE fear of failure!!!!! I could not muster up the courage to retake the exam for the second time until March of 2009!!!!! I took the NCLEX review with Kaplan and did a lot of self study. Most importantly, I prayed!!!!! I passed on the second attempt!!!!:yeah: Everything happenns for a reason, and you all can do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!:nurse:

It has been 15 years for me and i am also looking for an extensive review course to help me pass. I never took the exam either. I was offered a job making alot of money and took it. I am trying to get my license back and was told I could if I passed boards.. any advice on a great review course. I have lost so much info. Good luck everyone.
