Hi all. I have not been a member of this site long. I was wondering if anyone else waited a long time just to get the ATT from NCBON. At the moment, my kids and I moved to NC from IN to accept a job offer. My husband had to stay back to work in the hopes that he would be here soon. At this point, we are about to lose everything. I have been out of school for about two months with no ATT. NC will not let me work as a tech like I did in IN. We are running out of money very fast and the NCBON is not in any hurry. I have sent e-mails and the response is that the BON is backed up. Food stamps are right around the corner. Any one else have this problem...not that it would make it go away to know. I just feel that I could rest easier.

Of course I attended NS in NC so my situation is different from yours, but I had my ATT very shortly after graduation. I'm sure yours is delayed because of your move.
We could practice as CNAs because we had our NC CNA I certification from school. We were automatically certified after 2nd semester (or was it 1st?!?), but I PAID to get my CNA II certification during my last semester just in case I needed it. Of course now it's expired because once you pass NCLEX-RN you can't work as a CNA.
Good luck :)
Thank you for your reply.

You could look into whether or not you can take the CNA exam, but you will most likely get your ATT by the time you can schedule and take the CNA test. Another avenue for work would be to use the newspaper want ads to look for private duty caregiver positions where the patient does not mind if you are not certified. There is also the possibility of working as a NA. In my state a person can work as a NA in a LTC facility but must receive their CNA certificate by the four month mark. See if you can work under these conditions. Good luck.
Thank you so much for your help. I actually got the ATT yesterday and am taking the test next week. I guess all the begging to the NCBON made them tired of hearing from me. I really appreciate your encouragement.
