2nd edition is many years out of date. Much better to get an up to date book when studying for the exam

New book =$50US

NCLEX=$200

Seems like a worthy investment to me...I would hate to not pass the NCLEX because of an out of date book.

Thread moved to the NCLEX Forum as it has nothing to do with working in the Philippines.

The 2nd edition is outdated in many ways, there are no new format questions at all. And things do change.

Definitely worth it for you to get the latest edition, you are already going to be spending quite a bit of money to take the exam, this is only a drop in the bucket compared to that.

I have 3rd edition. Is that a major difference from the 4th? I bought the 3rd edition last august 07.

Imvho other than aprox 150 alternative type questions I felt the questions were almost identical and was very disappointed with the 4th ed. If someone is a good student and has studied alternative type questions elsewhere its not a must have, imo, but as others have said for $50 its just another little bit of insurance. Tough call and I guess I'm glad I bought it before I knew it wasn't much different, lol. The good news is that I sold it back on Amazon.com so it only ended up costing me $15.

Good luck!

If one is retaking the exam if they did not pass, then most definitely they should be using the newest edition.

If one has a revised third edition, then they should be okay; but if the original version of the 3rd, then definitely go for the newest.

This question was originally started on the Philippine Forum and then moved here, so the training was done in another country; and for that, the latest edition is always the best one to have.

:nurse:hi everybody,

Saunders is good only if u can concentrate on rational rather than question.I myself think that saunders question are much easier than real nclex. In some questions you even do not have to look at question for making answer correct. But for subject matter, its really good if you can concentrate on rationals.

Next thing, we cannot develop our critical thinking in Saunders

because all are kind of straight questions.Nclex is not like that, we have to use critical thinking to answer nclex question.

In my view Kaplan questions are real like nclex.I myself did all saunders questions from cd and book. A week before my exam,I took Kaplan trainer test 1 and got only 50%.It was so horrible.I got nervous.I didnt have much time.I had scheduled my nclex on last date of ATT.I had no choice. Finally I failed .:cry::cry:

Well, now I am planing of taking Kaplan to build my confidence, hope it works.

thank you
