Hello Everybody,

I kindly ask if somebody have a recent experience in working in SA.

They are evaluating my profile and say the salary is going to be taxes-free

But I think that as soon as I get back to Canada-Toronto, my income will be taxable.

Am I right?

I have a 7-year old daugther and husband.

They tell me that eventually they may come with me.

Any comment?

Thanks in.advance

Adela

Thanks for any input

as long as you spend 330 days of the year outside US 95k is tax free. Canada will be similar.

Socal1,

Thanks for your answer.

Here in Canada the taxable period is from Jan the 1st.

If I leave in august for a year. I am afraid i will not reach the taxable period

Regards

Have you researched your question through revenue Canada?

Dishes,

I did not go depply yet. But I am thinking to visit my accountant.

On the web site of revenue canada many things just go around the bush. Unfortunately none precise answer

Thanks for your input

Have you looked up temporarily employed outside of Canada and having residential ties to Canada on revenue Canada?

Once I checked.

And it says that I definitely have to pay taxes of outside incomes. I was not sure 100% because the SA hospital employers offer to me "free taxes salary"

That is why I hesitate

Thanks, you make me doble thought

☺☺

The u.s says jan 1st too but it doesnt matter as long as its 330 days in a year

You must be right

Thanks

You will only be offered contracts to work in SA hospitals and as a non-citizen you will never have permanent ties to SA. If going to SA means you will quit a full time nursing job in Toronto, think twice. Taking a temporary out of country contract position when there is a surplus of nurses, is risky. Any extra money you make in SA will be used up on living expense if you are unemployed or underemployed when you return to Canada.
