It depends on what shift you pick up, if it's an SOS shift (text goes out asking for help) or if it's your mandatory incentive shift. That is an excellent question to ask your interviewer if you haven't interviewed already. :)

As long as you're signing up for an incentive shift or picking up the texted needs shift, then it should be 1.5x. Now if you go into overtime then it's basically 2x total for incentive and overtime, you get .5 extra from both.

Thank you. No interview yet ( last semester of school), but planning to see which place is worth the move to.

Thank you for the response. How are you liking your time at the hospital so far?

I really like gaining that experience on my floor. I come from a state that is very selective on hiring and as such I wasn't able to break into the market. So far I have been learning a lot and I personally love my co workers. They are knowledgable and super helpful.

I began orientation at Sandford last Monday. I will be working on the Palliative Care Unit and will have my first shift on the floor February 17th. I am a new grad and will also be part of the new grad residency program. I am 0.8 FTE, I just signed up for all my insurance benefits, the insurance seems very good and relatively inexpensive! I am very excited about beginning work next week.

I have lived in Fargo for 20 years, it's a great city to live in despite the cold winters.

Good luck!

Is palliative care a unit of its own? Do you know much about the med-surg oncology unit?

I have been offered three positions at Sanford. Do you have any helpful advice or know much about the med-surg. oncology, psych and resource positions. I was told they are all med-surg.

Resource sounds great to me but I am a new nurse and don't want to be overwhelmed. I am curious to know how extensive the training is.....
