San Jacinto College ADN Fall 2009

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hi everyone. Im wondering if any of you are planning on applying to San Jac ADN program or are in the program?

Lets talk about it here

I kept getting beds without them. I feel cheated now!

Tomorrow, tomorrow, there's always tomorrow.

Thanks. Us pre-nursing students have got to stick together! Ive known about the info meeting for about 2 weeks now. I am soooo excited. Porobably more excited than anyone should be about school. Its only because I want it so much. I am attempting to apply with both option A and B. I will be taking the ACT on April 4th. What about you?

hey there, i am just curious ....for anybody that has been accepted into the ADN, will u share me a little bit how did you get accepted (ie. your act score, your GPA..etc? ) i wanted to apply for spring 2010. thanks alot!!!

You may be waiting for a bit today for a reply from any of the regulars here. We've got a skills check-off running most of today and people are concentrating heavily on that. I'd help, but I'm more the exception than the rule of getting accepted.

Regardless, my GPA was 3.2, but I had 2 A's from A&P1 and 2, and a B in micro. My theory (that is completely unsubstantiated in every possible way) is that they look very hard at your science GPA and then your overall GPA. Nursing is science intensive, so if you bombed the sciences but still have a decent GPA...Well, I'm not quite sure what to say : )

Yep, it appears that you need to make an A in one of your science classes and the rest can be B's. The nursing program is equivalent to taking at least 12 hrs eventhough we're only receiving 7 hrs for this semester. Just be ready to study all the tine when you're not in class.

Russell, Dr. **** said that you can leave the side rail down when you finish is you state that your client is fully awake and alert. What time are you getting there?

Thanks Melissa. I knew there was something to the sciences, I just had no proof.

So we have to state that we didn't kill our patient while washing or making their bed? Pity...I mean, that's cool. I'll probably get there about 10:30-ish. I'd like to see if I can catch people who are finishing and see what they think.

All these last minute details are getting me worried. Call lights, alert manikins, verbally/visually stating water/glove/towel changes and putting the rail up for these. All this on top of my stage fright, after my intro line I shut down, even when talking to my bear.

When do you first put gloves on? When getting the bath blanket on?

Just remember that there are 9 other people who are scared too! I'm going to be scared and I've done skills that are much much harder than this one, so don't sweat about it (too much) : )

I'm putting gloves on the second I enter. I'm not letting them fail me because I didn't have gloves on, and they can't fail you for having gloves on all the time. Worst they can say is you wasted the hospitals gloves.

Bath blanket comes before you pull the gown and top sheet off, after you take the big blanket off. If I'm wrong Melissa will let us know : p

I'll prob do that, better safe than sorry.

I am comforted by them saying you can backtrack and correct something before you call time.

Oh yeah, that makes it a little less nerve wracking. I'm just going to make up a story and tell it with my manikin. I've thought it through. It's awesome.

Russell, how'd you do? You didn't have Mr. ******* so you can't be mad at me. I passed, but Ms. ****** told me I wasn's suppose to tuck the top sheet and blanket in on the sides. I think I like Ms. ****** afterall.

Now for MNL 7,8 & 9...

I had him for like, 6 minutes. So it still counts : )

The lady who replaced him was freaking nice as anything. When I was almost finished, she asked if my bed would be presentable to any faculty. I said it would be okay. She then proceeded to show me how it should look, then told me I passed. Not to mention I forgot to say I was washing my hands and all that jazz, but I kept the side rails up!

Yeah, the top sheet and blanket only get tucked in on the bottom. The one thing I actually knew. And have fun with the ridiculousness of chapter 7. Took me an hour to do the pretest.

thanks for the answers:))
