San Antonio FNP Student

Published

Hello all!

I am in desperate need of finding preceptors! I am going to UTA online and am in my final stages of completing the FNP Program. It is so difficult to find a primary care provider to follow! Anyone have any advice or know of anyone willing to take on an FNP student? All help is very much appreciated!

I'm in San Antonio. If you haven't yet, join SANAP.org. You can post a request for preceptors on their website. At all the meetings we give students the opportunity to request a preceptor. I'd help but the company I work for has strict requirements for students. It usually takes 6 months or more to get it set up.

I start clinicals in the Summer of 2017 and continue thru Winter, 2017 and I'm still looking for FNP preceptors. I've tried to attend SANAP meetings but I'm always put on a wait list and nothing ever opens up. Are there other preceptors you can recommend, Mike? I would really appreciate it. I cannot reply to private messages here so message me at southpawAN at yahoo if you need. Thank you!

You have to send your request for SANAP within the first week after the previous meeting, they are very popular. Another good company would be WellMed. I had to call in favors and put forth significant effort to find mine. I know it's hard but keep trying and get them set up as early as possible. It sounds like that's what you're doing. Good luck.

Thank you, MikeFNPC...I will definitely keep trying! I've put out many calls and waiting for multiple call backs from office managers around the city. I will also try WellMed. I truly appreciate your reply.

Mike,

I am moving to San Antonio in June 2018, and I will be graduating in August and starting my job search. I will be joining SANAP as soon as I move. Did you get your job by networking through SANAP? I see a few jobs on their website I am interested in, I am just unsure if it is too soon for me to apply. I am an FNP student, and I am bilingual.
