Will be putting in applications into some programs later this year and SMU is within my top 3. Has any students/previous students attended these informational sessions that is being offered? It's a 2 day stint with one meeting staff and program coordinators etc and the second being more hands on with airway simulations and what not.
Thing is, I need to consider it's 350$ to register, flight tickets (not cheap atm), and likely will be calling out from work. If anyone has any experience with these sessions, positive or negative, please chime in. I don't want to waste my money/time when I'm set on applying anyways.

I assume you are talking about the CRNA diversity event andI attended it last year. It was one of the main reasons why I wanted to pursue becoming a CRNA, especially at SMU. I did some shadowing before but this event really made me understand what it took to be a CRNA and the scope of practice it entails. At the event, I found a SRNA mentor that helped me throughout the entire application process. I kept exposing myself to faculty and the program director until it got to the point where the first thing they said to me during my interview was "Hey, I recognized you from all of these events!" When talking to my new cohort, I would say ~50-70% attended the CRNA diversity event.
I highly recommend going to it. The invaluable experience and networking possibility alone is hard to pass up.
