Anyone accepted for the Fall 2008 semester? I just got my acceptance letter!!! Yay!!! :)
Honestly, I didn't find the test that difficult. You have to pass both parts though. GPA I didn't think was too important to them considering I was only transferring 3 credits and the rest of my grades weren't great being that I had received WU's on the rest of my classes from my previous school. All I can suggest is getting a good night's sleep before the test and just relax. I found it easier to answer the questions I knew right away first and then go back and take time with the others. Watch your time. If it happens to run out, fill out any answer...you have at least a chance of getting it right compared to definitely getting it wrong if you don't answer at all. Your prerequisites really don't matter because it's not like other schools, they incorporate them throughout the course. You don't take them all the first semester. The only classes you take the first semester that are considered prereq's are Psychology and A&P. The others come later. Hope this helps.
Oh, some of my friends that I told about the school don't have the pre-reqs. So let me ask you this then: so you think that the 4 Nursing courses are so time consuming that one would feel overwhelmed that they now have to take A&P1 and Pysch in addition to the 4 nursing classes in the 1st semester? Like to they pace the work out in a comfortable fashion or do they just throw multiple chapters at you and then test you for each nursing class, with no test review?
About the GPA....I'm not sure. I don't remember. I found out my results about two weeks after taking the test and interviewed shortly after that. Then again I applied a while ago for the Fall 2009 class. About the amount of work, I really don't know because it'll be the first time that I'm attending. I'm going to be taking everything but the Psychology. Are you trying to get in for this semester or are you applying for the evening in the spring?
Hi everyone...I would like some feedback from anyone who has attended St.Paul's during or even prior to the name change.I am sitting for the entrance exam next week, so that I can start in Spring 2010. I was offered to take the test sooner and start in Fall 2009 because some seats opened up but I declined. I was just curious as to how hard the exam actually is? I have taken entrance exams before where people would say it is hard but it wasn't so bad and I got myself anxious for no reason. I have been studying the book as a precaution. Are you automatically disqualiified if you recieve a bad grade? I am assuming I will do fine but just wondering.

In reference to your comment. Getting into nursing schools in NY are very difficult unless you have all prior pre req's finished and a super high GPA. Although not all schools require a high GPA,it is very competitive and deadlines for certain semesters are sometimes the year prior (with everything complete). The fact is there aren't enough seats for everyone. I have researched and applied to schools all over NY and in NJ and CA. I even looked into the Carribean schools. My advice is-if you are starting St.Pauls. Stay there, just get your work done, and be out!! Because all that matters in the end is sitting for the NCLEX and getting your license. Yes, education is important but nurses are in such demand right now. I am an LPN and the school I went to was sooooo unorganized and a mess. BUT I did what I needed to and got done. I was so nervous starting a job cause I thought I forgot everything but when you get hired and shadow you learn as you go along and they teach you how to work everything because every facility is different. Sorry this is turning into a novel. LOL. I had looked into LPN-RN schools as well. But this school seemed to accept people on a rolling basis which was nice-NO WAITING!!! :) Thanks for reading this! I would appreciate any feedback :)
Hello:
Yes, I am trying to get in for the Fall 2009 class, starting next Mon 8/31. I am taking the Arnett test tomorrow. Please tell me what I should focus on in math? Are they mostly word sentences or what? What do you remember, or what were the parts you found hard in particular? I am going bonkers, lol.
I took A&P 1 already, and got an A, so if you need help I am your girl.
Relax...honestly I think the questions in the review book were harder than the actual exam. The math part wasn't too difficult. From what I remember, mostly multiplication, division and fractions. Some percentage I think and minor algebra. You'll be fine. I don't remember there being too many word problems. The only suggestion that I have is to do the ones that you know first and then go back and do the others. Just don't forget your place on the answer sheet. You can mess up big time if you're not filling in the answer for the right question. Same with the reading section. Last but not least the best advice they gave me, if you don't know the answer fill out anything. At least you have a chance of getting it right instead of definitely getting it wrong. When they tell you that you have a few minutes left, take advantage and fill out everything that you have missing with any answer. That is only if you reach that point but as far as time, I found that it was sufficient. I didn't feel like I had to race through it. I had time to go and review some of the "iffy" questions. GOOD LUCK on the test and keep us posted.
anybody going to the program this fall and needs AP book and lab manual by shier let me know. also, i want to sell my saunders nclex -rn review book 4th edition. this book is very helpful and you will find some questions from the test in this book. i saw 4 out of 5 professors have this book in their desk.

OMG, I almost forgot, how important is the GPA to them? I have a 4.0 from one school and a 4.20, from another. I did all pre-reqs except Micro and Human Growth and Development.
I guess what I am asking is how do they weigh out everything GPA, Arnett, essay, etc?
