Saint Vincent Catholic Medical Centers School of Nursing - Queens

Anyone accepted for the Fall 2008 semester? I just got my acceptance letter!!! Yay!!! :) :yeah:

Thank you, congrats to you too. The interview went well, she basically asked the basic questions, why do you want to be a nurse, how did you hear about the school, and she skimmed through my essay and asked me questions about what i wrote. We discussed test scores and transcripts. Now I wait for the letter that will make or break me. Its sounds good but you never know. :heartbeat

hey congrats on ur interview!!.....if u dont mind me askin howd u do on the entrance exam??....i got my scores but im not sure wat was passin and how they look at the scores.....thanx!

I got an 85.81 percent. i guess that's the composite of the reading and math scores. I don't know what their minimum score is but I got a call, I honestly had given up on St. Vincent's because I took the test in July and they contacted me just on Friday of last week. All that waiting and I'd pretty much lost hope. But anyway I guess an 80 or above might be a minimum?

Does anybody known if it is to late to apply? :stone

So I had my interview today with Mrs. J. I think it went really well. Like Khia said, they go over your test scores and she also told me that they like to see that you do well on the reading section since you will do a lot of reading for nursing and also on the critical thinking section since that's the kind of stuff they test on the NCLEX. So like everyone has said, really use the interview as an opportunity to paint a positive picture of yourself. Don't be robotic! Good luck everyone!

Jade, I would call the school and find out. Their number is (718) - 357- 0500. It is somewhat difficult to get through to their secretary Ms. Soto though. I also believe that the application deadline for the Spring 2009 night program is Sept. 30, just call and make sure.

I have been bothering Ms. Soto since after my Entrance Exam regarding my application. I wanted to find out if all my transcripts are in and I was so surprised that since Friday, everytime I call, she answers. So, call her Jade. Or email Ms. Soto. Email address is on their website. She replied to emails too on the same day. Must be some miracle :saint:

Thank you taurinez for the interview info. I'll keep that in mind, IF I get called (crossing my fingers)

St. Vincent Catholic Medical Center is on Horace Harding Expressway facing the highway and its a brown/orange colored building with a parking lot in front of it. Right across the street is some kind of karate instruction school with a bus stop in front of it. The school is on the next block after the bus stop. Well you need to pick up the application packet, which includes the application and other info. Ask the guard in the lobby and they will give you one. Honestly you really can't do anything until you have that application packet. As for the essay, they want one page typed and the following questions answered: Why do you want to be a nurse? How did you hear about the school? What are your future plans and aspirations? But anyway, just get the application packet. It will answer all your questions. This forum is also more than 16 pages long so you should look through it since most questions have been answered on here.
