I'm so sad to say that I will be leaving the PICU, definitely not because I don't like it, because I love taking care of my kids, however, some things have come up and I need a job that is closer to home and there were no PICU positions available so now I will be going to a burn unit and I'm hoping that I will find it quite interesting. The good thing is, they do treat kids in the burn unit, so I wont be leaving the kiddies all together, and eventually I want to try and work part time in the PICU, so hopefully everything will work out!

Aww, that's too bad. Burn nursing is pretty intensive too, and you'll learn a lot of new skills. Not my cup of tea I have to say, but I've done a lot of it. The unit where I used to work got a lot of kids with severe burns (demographic thing) because the burn unit didn't take kids. Now the only ones I see are the ones who are tubed. Our last bad one needed HFOV and we had one who went on ECLS, but both recovered. Please continue to post here about your experiences. I hope that someday you'll be able to find your way back to PICU again.
Thanks Jan, I will make sure to do that. I've learned so much from PICU already.
