Rutgers New Brunswick vs NJCU vs Thomas Edison

Published

Anyone can tell me the pros/cons to these programs? And if they have any other recommendations..

Thanks!

Idk if this a bit too late. I'm in the NJCU accelerated BSN and I have a friend that graduated from Rutger's ABSN.

Rutger's (from my friend's point of view)

Pro- the name, class size, professors are nice, and a good pace, 14 months

Cons- program is very disorganized, they wait until last minute to tell you if you got regretted or accepted

**i was going to apply but got accepted from NJCU but I will say the application process for Rutger's was a headache and I was annoyed because they said that interpersonal communications was needed but changed the requirements two months before the deadline. So I wasted money for that class that I did not need.**

NJCU

Pros- 12 month program (technically 10 months since we get a month for winter break, one week for spring break and one week between spring and summer semester, but graduate early August), professors are great, people are very helpful, you get an iPad mini and the program gives you some of the books for "free"

Cons- they are very picky with the HESI grades, the location of the hospitals can be far, not in the greatest area, they separate the cohort in half for jersey city but still together if that makes sense.

Thank you so much for your response!! I am still deciding on where to apply so this is quite helpful!

I have a few q's if u don't mind answering..

1) I noticed that NJCU's deadline is February for both coherents.. Did you need all the prerequisites completed by that deadline?

2) You mentioned that you were gonna apply to Rutgers.. They have an Organic Biochemistry prerequisite. Did you complete it and if yes, where?

3)Do you know if a B.A is not conferred by the app deadline can I have my transcripts sent over to show that I completed evreything while it gets conferred?

Thanks again for evreything!

I don't mind :)

1) For NJCU you do have to have all pre-reqs done prior to the deadline (that was the case for feb 2015 when I applied).

2) when I was going to apply in June they did not require Organic Biochemistry (that is a new pre-req which I am surprised they are asking for that). The requirements back in June were the regular science courses, nutrition, developmental psych and interpersonal communication (that one they eliminated two months prior to the deadline). But I know that you can send in your final grade after the deadline.

3) Back in June they said it was ok. It seems like they changed a lot this year so you might have to double check me on that one.

I hope I answered your questions. If you have anymore don't hesitate to ask :) I don't mind helping a fellow future nurse

I just looked it up for the organic biochemistry so oops I forgot it was also general chemistry II. I took that in my undergrad, but you can take it at a community college if you already taken gen chemistry I. If you are still in college then I'm not sure if they would let you take chem II without taking Chem I. That was the case for my undergrad.

Thank you SO much for all ur replies!! One last question and then I promise to leave u alone í ½í¸€

Do u know the NCLEX pass rate fpr both schools?

Hehe no worries I'm not sure about Rutger's but NJCU had a 100% rate and everybody in last years cohort (they graduated in August) already have jobs by early November. My friend who graduated from Rutger's ABSN took her 7 months to find a job.

Thanks a ton for all your help:)
