i'm not quite sure what to do. i've been out of school for 10 years and i've never had any college experience so i'm not sure if this is how things go or not. at my school i have class m-f 8-2:30. i have a different class everyday (i'm assuming most of your schools are like this as well) but i have the same classmates. anyways, i have the rudest classmates. not rude like they are stuck up or other stuff like that....i'm talking rude like they talk so much about going to the club or their hair or random stuff like that....not only do they talk about this stuff, but they talk very LOUDLY! it's one thing if they do it when class isn't in session, but they do.....it drives me nuts.
should i say something to them or the teacher? i paid my way to the school to become a nurse...not to make friends and hear stories that doesn't pertain to nursing

Frankly.. you can say something or not.. more than likely they will not listen to you.. sorry.. but here is the ray of sunshine.. if this is the begining of the nursing program... give it 3 weeks.. or less.. the majority of the ones like that will start dropping like flies... or shut up because they want to pass.. I know how frustrating it is to deal so try to sit in front and focus.. or mention it to the instructor.. good luck

The problem is with the teacher if they do it when class is going on. Otherwise, ignore it. It's a free country.

sorry to hear about this... this can happen sometimes... just sit all the way in the front or across the room so you won't have to be around their nonsense... i feel your pain, and i'm sure these girls are probably not going to make it. i had to give up my social life to focus 110% of my energy into school, but make your life easier and ignore them (they're not worth fussing about) good luck to you!

Becky,
I just started LPN school on the 9-2 and I can already tell you that this is probably happening at just about all schools. What you have to do is focus on what you are their for, which is to learn, graduate and pass the NCLEX. I sit upfront and I'm sooo glad I do. If you notice people who don't want to be involved or participate will sit in the back of the class. Some don't have a choice because all the upfront seats might have been taken. Please don't let anyone come between your education. Because trust me, in a couple of weeks those that are horsing around, talking about going to the club and all that other sh**t that doesn't matter, will be getting a first glimpse of reality which is finding out that they can't just "skate" through nursing school. Have no worries they drop like flys :eek:and ONLY THE STRONG SURVIVE!!! **remember that**
Keep your head up and focus on the prize which is becoming a nurse!

The class I am in is pretty noisy and we are all at the end of term 1 and we are one of the highest achieving term 1's they have had in awhile so they are mystified as to how we can be so noisy and do so well. I'm ranked number one in the class and find the noise really hasn't affected my ability to learn.

Same issues in my class... One of our instructors is relativly new and boy do they take advantage....... However, after enough complaining, to her and the director, she finally started answering (their) questions with "I covered that in the lecture, or before the lecture" and its not quite as "loud as it used to be.....
So I would speak up, like you said you paid alot of money for your class.

thanks for bringing this up....I hate waiting 30 minutes after class discussing unnecessary stuff. I just do not understand why some nursing students like interupting the instructor BECUASE OF THE "family friend had the disease so i know everything abt it " factor

Talk to the insturctor or Email her/him... This is something that shouldn't be going on. If its not addressed by her then move on up. Its un-professional, and going by most schools codes against the code. You are there to learn... They are too. You are paying good money to go to school you should speak-up... It needs to end.
We had something similar in our class (same 25 or so students) and by the second quarter enough students had complained/emailed etc to the instructor that it was addressed success. We are no going into our 4th and final quarter.. I anticipate smooth sailing in regards to the noice level in class.

:chuckle...even worse are the people who feel the need to interrupt just because they happen to know what the teacher is about to say. I feel like I need to start bringing a big box of cookies to class.
