RPN in a Family Health Team or Doctor's Office- What is the pay? What do you do?

Published

Hello,

What is the typical day as an RPN working in a doctor's office or family health team?

What do you get paid?

I am graduating this year from an RPN program and would like to know if this is for me.

Thanks!

It's very basic and quite honestly boring. You might do some vaccinations, B12 injections. Weights, vitals, paperwork. Minimal woundcare/dsg changes.

Out here they usually pay close to union wage.

Most offices have medical assistants that do the billing, scheduling, etc. and maybe one LPN.

It's financially not worth it for them.

Specializes in Acute Care, Rehab, Palliative.

Yeah same here in Ontario. Boring and routine and for a new grad not really advantageous when it comes to honing skills or learning new ones. Here the pay is usually pretty poor, around $17-18/hr.
