San Francisco Bay Area
TOP 5 Reasons
1) If you want the "culture shock" to be of a lesser degree-- then this is your place. Daly City is known as little Manila. Their mayor is Filipino for crying out loud! hehehe. It's a fun place, especially Serramonte Mall where all the manongs and manangs hang out for their "sessions". Plus, they have the BENCH clothing store, how Manila can you get??? Everywhere you look there's a Filipino restaurant or market. It makes you feel like you've never left Pinas. Promise.
2) There will be a Filipino/a nurse in your floor, and especially if you work night shift. That is where the money is, and where there is money, Pinoys are there! Most likey your CNA, LVN, housekeeper, unit secretary will all probably be Pinoys.
3) Homesick for Filipino foods?? Never! Chowking, Goldilocks, Max, Ongpin, etc is here. Plus you can buy kang kong in the market for your sinigang.
4) The city is awesome. There are tons to do here. If you're the clubbing type, San Francisco's night life is great. If you're a nature person, there are tons of hiking places, canoeing, and lake tahoe is only 4 hours away. plus, the bay area is close to the pacific ocean, if you're a good swimmer, maybe you can swim back home.. Just kidding!
5) Save the best for last: TOP PAY!!! Let's just say that after graduation, I came to California (for personal reasons) and what I earned then, my mom was earning on the state where I used to live. And she has 20 years of experience! Of course, the standard of living is high as well, rent is more expensive, etc...
Thanks for the first insightful input we've got, IseeU_rn :) Your top 5 reasons were hilarious:chuckle I totally agree with numbers 1 and 3 --- I see them happening.lol I'll keep the top 5 reasons in mind :rotfl:
Any more input from others?

IseeU rn, great infos! Thanks! thats what i need to know. NY nurse here but planning to move to Cali especially Bay Area. If you have more infos about the place and the Hospitals around the area, spare me please..your reply is greatly appreciated.
Hey shaider, san si annie? :chuckle I just have to make that joke hehe, I grew up watching that show. Out of curiosity, what speciality in nursing do you do pala? have you considered travel nursing in the meantime for your transfer? At least you won't get tied up to just one hospital if you didn't like them. Plus, they give you a housing stipend (HRN agency if u move to SF bay area gives $3K per month on top of your sweldo, and it's tax free!) YOu can go contract per contract to different hospitals that way you can test the waters before plunging in. benefits are included, too. HRN agency is highly recommended for travel nursing, if you do contact them let me know-- i can refer you to my friend and you two can share the referal fee... If you want my opinon, i think you should look into this for you transfer, more money for your move... LEt me know if you're interested.. Im not affliliated with them, but this is what i would do, if i do move to another state...

Thanks for the infos, I will be moving to Silicon valley this February. Sure, I will visit Daly City and eat at Chowking.:rotfl:
Hey Rep! Goodluck on your move. I love it here in the bay area, lots of fun stuff to do... hope you'll like it as much as I do!
Chowking is in Vallejo, though, just 45 mins away from SF, but you'll enjoy it the same. I haven't been there, but I miss the kangkong with chinese bagoong so I might drive out sometime! yum!
thanks for the info Iseeu:)
