RN's working in Pocatello.....some ???'s

Published

Hi all. I am an RN currently working postpartum night shift. I have been a nurse for 14 years here in AZ.

My husband is applying to pharmacy school, and it is looking like ISU in Pocatello is going to be a potential option for us (in like 18 months). Since ID and AZ are nursing compact states, there is no license issue for me, but I am wondering what the pay is like up there compared to down here. I dont need exact numbers, but can someone give me a range?? The range around here is about $25-$40, plus 20% night differential. $25 being new grad pay, with experienced RN's going up from there.

Also, what is the weather like in Pocatello? How much SNOW do you get?? I am an AZ girl, and I am NOT used to snow. I am still hoping and praying he can get into a local program and we dont have to go anywhere, but I am just checking out the options.

Thanks

I am RN in Boise, but I did go to school at ISU in Pocatello, so I can give you a little info. I would expect the pay range for a nurse in Pocatello to be in the $18-$30 range, with probably about 20% night differential (hopefully a nurse from Pocatello can correct me if I'm wrong). If that sounds low to you, you got to remember the cost of living there is pretty low too. The weather in Pocatello is four different distinct seasons, which I totally love... it does snow, but it doesn't snow too much to where you can't get around.
