I believe RNLD is exclusive to the UK. Most other countries nurses are generalist trained. AUS. & NZ nurses are educated in adult, geriatric, pediatric & mental health/psych nursing clinical and theory. Midwives are a separate credential similar to the UK. (US & Canada nursing education includes adult, pediatric, geriatric, psych/mental health & maternity/OB. Specialty training is post graduation)
The information you seek can be found here: http://nursingcouncil.org.nz/Nurses/International-registration
You are likely to have difficulty of your transcripts do not reflect adequate clinical and theory in all areas.

Hello anyone that can help!
I am half way through a Learning Disability Nursing Degree BSc Hons. I want to work in New Zealand when I graduate. I have Googled aand searched but it is all a load of waffle.
Can anyone advise me on whether RNLD is recognised and how I should start and go about this.
Questions such as:
How long after I graduate (assuming I am successful haha) can I apply?
How many hours worked as a RNLD do I have to have completed before I can apply (if I can apply)?
I am a mature student with family. My husband can transfer to NZ through hiss company and be sponsored so I can go as his Spouse but I want to work as a Nurse.
Thanks in advance for any help :)
