Hello everyone! I am an RN with extensive experience in PCU, Cardiac Telemetry and Neuroscience. I have been both staff and a traveler. I am now looking for a transition into becoming a perioperative nurse, and I don't know where to start. I have been looking for opportunities in the Raleigh Durham area to train, and there doesn't seem to be a lot around here. My husband and I own a home here, and I am not really looking to relocate so I can apply to an internship.
Does anyone have any advice on what my starting point should be? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

If you are currently employed somewhere you should go talk to the department manager over perioperative services. It might take a few months of befriending them and trying to get in but if you are a good nurse/employee then you will be able to get in. I look for good nurses from the units all the time that are actually interested but rarely find any that want to take the challenge. I invited the SICU nurse that was taking care of my patient post op to come watch the CABG the other day and he came. He thought it was "awesome". If he showed interest and was actually cool about it(not a nag) I would have no problem recommending him for transfer....
