RN school, wanting to get CNA..

Published

Hello All:) I am searching on how to get my CNA while going to school. I have the classes done as of now to work as a CNA, I just don't know what steps to take next. any input would be great! thank you

Check out your state's website and look up certification/licensure information. There's some kind of waiver/exemption notice you will have to fill out and send in. I hear the cost is minimal, too.

Hi! I am a CNA and I have been working as one even before I stared nursing school. Some of my peers were not aides before they started nursing school but after their first semester of clinicals they did a very limited training program through my hospital that gave them a job as a nursing assistant, but they are not certified. You only have to be certified to work in skilled nursing facilities, not hospitals. Ask the nursing recruiter at the hospital(s) where you have done clinical rotations to see if they would hire you as an aide. It would be great experience. Good luck!
