Published

Hi I'm a newly board passer in the Philippines. I want to take nclex-rn soon but I don't know if I should also take the cgfns exam because I'm an immigrant/ green card holder. I read on the cgfns website on the part of "Who is not required to take the examination" it states the language of textbooks and verbal instruction of your

education was English. So I'm really confused If i will be required to take cgfns.

Another question if I will be required to take the cgfns.. what will I take first nclex or cgfns?????

I hope someone answers my question. i'm new here! thanks fellow nurses!! :)

Moved to the International forum

If you trained outside the US then you have to meet requirements for International trained and that could be CGFNS exam or CES. Only a small handful of states require the CGFNS exam but if it is required then that has to be completed first before the state will give permission for you to sit NCLEX

Specializes in Acute Care. ER. Aged Care/LTC. Psyche.

check with your Board of Nursing (BON). you can start by browsing their website.

there's a big possibility that you don't have to take the CGFNS exam, unless you intend to work on one of the very few states that require it. Most require just a CGFNS Credential Evaluation Service (CES), which is an evaluation of your nursing education and check if it's comparable to US standards.

u have to check on ur state nursing board if u need the cgfns
