Hi there,
I'm in my mid 20s living in Canada and thinking to go back to school to become a nurse practitioner. I'm specifically interested in PMHNP.
I live in Canada and currently working at the engineering firm but i don't have bachelor degree.
I want to work as NP in US so i would probably go to NP school in states.
I'm really interested in NP but not RN.
I have no plan to work as an RN.
Do you guys think that i should still go to BScN + RN experience + NP route?
Or recommend getting bachelor degree in any field + direct entry NP route?
Please give me an advice.
Thanks!

I think getting a BSN first would benefit you if you ever had any intention of working in Canada. To the best of my knowledge the PMHNP specialty is NOT recognized in Canada, so for the sake of keeping doors open (particularly if visas don't go through for working or residency in the U.S. or if they take a while and you need an income in the meantime) having a degree which makes you eligible to work in your home country would be very beneficial.
